FACT Packs are one-gallon zipper bags that contain a child-friendly, non-perishable breakfast, lunch and snack for each day school is not in session. The picture is an example of a standard two-day weekend FACT Pack.

Bags are packed by volunteers during the monthly pack sessions and delivered to schools. Each FACT Pack is discreetly placed in student backpacks by volunteers, teachers, and staff members on Fridays or the last day of school before break.

Each menu contains a variety of fruits, vegetables, and proteins. It does not contain chips, cookies or candy. All our menus are peanut-safe and do not contain pork products.

FACT Packs are provided to K-5 students free of charge at the schools we serve.  Feeding Area Children Together (FACT) is not a government program.  FACT is a 100% volunteer-run organization funded by individuals and local businesses.  All money donated goes directly to purchasing food and the minimal supplies needed to help feed our students experiencing hunger.

We are able to provide FACT Packs for $5 a week per student or $180 per year.

If your child(ren) is experiencing hunger on weekends and school breaks, please contact your elementary school office or United Way Resource Center to request an enrollment form.  You can start or discontinue receiving FACT Packs at any time during the school year.

Currently, FACT serves the students at Discovery Elementary, Madison Elementary, and North Junior High.

2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR - We are expanding to serve the newly combined Lincoln & Talahi Elementary Schools.  Pleasantview in Sauk Rapids will be launching a sponsored FACT Packs program.

Why FACT Packs?

FACT Packs are a convenient way to send food home with children experiencing hunger.  The foods are pre-portioned, easy to prepare and meet nutritional requirements for growing children.

This is important because:

  • 1 in 5 Central Minnesota children live in poverty

  • 34% of families who experience hunger are not eligible for federal nutrition programs

  • Over 90% of children at three area elementary schools qualify for free and reduced-priced lunch (FRPL)

  • The average FRPL rate in Minnesota is 30%

  • The 2019-2020 school calendar has 100 days that students are not in school (weekends & breaks)

Feeding Area Children Together is a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Federal EIN: 82-2748058
